What we Do
Peacebuilding
Rooted in a region marked by decades of armed conflict and injustice, FAA places peacebuilding at the heart of its mission. It mobilizes women, youth, and local leaders to foster dialogue, reconciliation, and non-violent conflict resolution. Through amani peace center, community forums, and advocacy campaigns, FAA builds trust and social cohesion across divided groups within both south and north Kivu regions through addressing root causes of violence, exclusion, and marginalization. We do conflict transformation into opportunities for collaboration, ensuring communities move toward inclusive participation, and stability for sustainable peace.
Inclusive Education
Education is a cornerstone of FAA’s vision for resilient communities. In North and South Kivu, where displacement and poverty disrupt schooling, FAA promotes inclusive access to education for children, particularly girls and those with disabilities. It provides support, mobilizes parents, and works with leaders to reduce barriers to learning. Beyond classrooms, FAA equips young people through peace clubs and life-skills training, nurturing critical thinking, leadership, and solidarity. Investing in education ensures sustainable peace and development for future generations.
WASH & Community Health- Usafi na Afya kwa Jamii
FAA advances community health as a foundation for human dignity and resilience. In regions with fragile health systems, FAA promotes maternal and child health, hygiene practices, nutrition, and SRHR awareness for women and adolescents. Its community-driven model emphasizes prevention, early response, and psychosocial wellbeing, particularly for conflict-affected populations. FAA advocates for equitable, accessible healthcare policies while engaging local leaders to address stigma and barriers to services. FAA strengthens health knowledge and structures by empowering communities to thrive despite persistent challenges.
Poverty Reduction
Recognizing poverty as a driver of conflict and exclusion, FAA works to empower vulnerable households, particularly women and youth, with sustainable livelihoods. It facilitates entrepreneurship, vocational training, and savings groups that strengthen self-reliance and economic dignity. FAA also advocates for inclusive economic policies that respond to community realities by fostering local initiatives and linking them to broader markets. Its poverty reduction strategy builds resilience, restores hope, and creates pathways for lasting prosperity in conflict-affected communities.
Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Recovery
In areas repeatedly struck by armed violence, displacement, and environmental crises, FAA combines disaster recovery with climate change adaptation. It supports affected families through emergency assistance, psychosocial care, and livelihood restoration while promoting community-based preparedness. FAA also engages communities in climate-smart agriculture, reforestation, and environmental stewardship to reduce vulnerabilities.
